About West Coast Eagles:

The West Coast Eagles, the first AFL club in Western Australia, was also the first non-Victorian club to win a premiership. That initial triumph came in 1992, just the club's sixth season, and was repeated in 1994.

West Coast has built a reputation as one of the most powerful entities in the AFL, based not only around its on-field success but also through its off-field achievements. The club this year broke through the 40,000 membership barrier for the first time and has enjoyed unwavering corporate support throughout its history.

Only three times in its 18-year existence has West Coast failed to qualify for the finals - in 1989, 2000 and 2001. It is the only club in AFL/VFL history to compete in the finals series for a complete decade, achieving that feat from 1990-99 under the tutelage of dual premiership coach Mick Malthouse.

In the last three seasons the club has been coached to the finals by John Worsfold, the man who was captain of the trail-blazing team which won the 1992 and 1994 flags.

There is an air of excitement about the possibilities in 2005 and beyond with Worsfold pulling together a young squad which appears capable of repeating the feats of a bygone era. One of the key players in this emerging team, dynamic midfielder Chris Judd, stamped his impact on the competition by winning the 2004 Brownlow Medal as the AFL's best and fairest player.

In conjunction with players like captain Ben Cousins, ruckmen Dean Cox and Michael Gardiner, midfielders Tyson Stenglein, Chad Fletcher, Andrew Embley and Michael Braun, as well as dour defender Darren Glass and explosive forward Phil Matera there is a belief the club has the nucleus to achieve the game's ultimate once again.
